Discover the breathtaking views of Mossel Bay from the Cape St. Blaize Lighthouse!
The Cape St. Blaize Lighthouse was declared a national monument in 1994 and remains a functioning lighthouse that has guided ships safely through rough seas since 1864.
Made from stone, it stands tall at 20 meters. The light up top is even higher, perched 33 meters above sea level like a king surveying his kingdom.
Take the climb to the top for panoramic views of the surrounding landscape but be warned; the 121 steps to the top are not for those who fear heights and tight spaces!
The Cape St. Blaize Restaurant opened in 2023 and is situated inside Cape St. Blaize lighthouse complex and offers a distinctive dining experience.
The boutique-style restaurant has delicious breakfasts, coffee by Truth Coffee, cheese platters and cakes. The best part is that the restaurant boasts a curated wine collection, the collection is presented on pot plants with some local succulents; pretty creative and not just better for the environment but also wind and weatherproof.
While the restaurant offers a cosy and intimate atmosphere, perfect for a romantic dinner or a casual catch-up with friends. The unique location inside the lighthouse tower adds to the restaurant’s charm, with stunning views of the ocean and coastline visible from the windows.
Did you know:The Cape St Blaize Lighthouse was originally built to guide ships carrying goods to and from the nearby harbour? In those days, the lighthouse keepers manually turned the lens to create the light that shone out to sea. Today, the lighthouse is fully automated and can be seen from up to 38 kilometres away!
The Cape St Blaize Lighthouse is an awesome pit stop for anyone wanting to spot dolphins, watch the adventure seekers zip line, or enjoy the amazing views of Mossel Bay.
