The Groeneweide Trails near the Saasveld campus (NMU) is one of the lesser-known hiking trails and picnic places near George. Definitely worth a visit, and you can decide whether you want to take a short stroll or a serious 13km hike.
We usually park at the pool area and take the kids on their bikes past the football fields, around the campus and back to the pool. There are many scenic short routes you can walk or peddle with toddlers. If you are more adventurous, there are 9km, 11km and 13km hikes, one of them being the Pepsi Pools and a hike to Tierkop.
Tips: Bring bikes, a ball and a picnic!
