Locals consider the Keurbooms Lagoon Caravan Park in Plettenberg Bay(Plett) / Bitou to be the crème de la crème of campsites. What makes the ‘Keurbooms’ campsite so attractive is its sheer size and variety of campsites. You could put up your two-person tent(honeymoon hut) so far from any kids and families that you would think you are at a different campsite.
The lagoon itself changes daily and during low tide, you can walk through shallow waters to reach the beach shore. You can choose to stay next to the lagoon which is has limited space and typically fully booked in peak season or you can camp closer to the facilities and playground.
The Keurbooms Lagoon Caravan Park is ideal for big groups of people, 2-3 families or more. Plenty of shade and plenty of space for you to roam. The individual campsites are typically big enough to easily fit two tents, a gazebo, and your car.
Kids love the Keurbooms campsite because there is plenty of places for them to run and explore and it comes with a good-sized playground.
Unless you are a hardcore camper your ideal stay length is about a week to 10 days.
The water current in the lagoon can get strong during high tide so parents with young kids should consider moving to the sites that aren’t directly next to the lagoon, don’t worry it is just as much fun.
It is also worth mentioning that there have been shark attacks in recent months so we don’t recommend getting into the water during high tide.
