Discover the Wild Oats Community Farmers' Market in Sedgefield

Experience farm-to-table at its best with fresh produce and vibrant community spirit.

Imagine a world where veggies brag about their crispiness and cheeses flaunt their age. Welcome to the Wild Oats Community Farmers’ Market in Sedgefield, a place that’s less about routine grocery runs and more about celebrating the high-quality food produce that the Garden Route has to offer. This is the kind of place where the phrase ‘just looking’ turns into a shopping spree. But more than anything, it’s a reminder of the simple joys of eating well and mingling with the folks who make it possible.

The Wild Oats Community Farmers’ Market has led the farm-to-table movement for over 25 years (Launched in 1999 by Rose Brettell and Susan Garner). Far from just catching on to a trend, this market has been at the forefront, establishing itself as one of the foundational experiences for connecting local farmers directly with their community.

It’s an edible journey featuring free-range meats, with dairy so fresh the French come for the cheese, vegetables that crack and crunch with every bite, and the pièce de resistance is freshly shucked oysters. It’s all about the simple joys of farm-fresh bounty and that cheeky dash of sea.

Wild Oats Farmers Market is also a fantastic meeting spot for tourists and locals along the Garden Route, offering various delicious food options. Enjoy mingling with friends and shop owners while savouring everything from authentic German hot dogs to high-quality South African biltong, artisan doughnuts and tarts, scrumptiously hot vegan dishes and much more.

Wild Oats is also pet-friendly! Dogs are welcome but need to stay on their leads. This way, everyone, pets included, can enjoy the market’s buzz. Pet owners can grab food and share the experience with their furry pals, making the market an excellent spot for the whole family.

When you’re ready to head out from the Wild Oats Community Farmers’ Market, consider leaving a tip for the Eden Minstrels. Their music adds a special touch to the atmosphere, and a small contribution to thank them for their performance is a great way to say goodbye.

If you’re not quite ready to hop back into your car, let the market adventure continue just a stone’s throw away at the Sedgefield Mosaic Market. It’s the perfect spot to stretch your legs and soak in even more of the local charm and creativity.
