Old George Dam short walk

A short walk with a variety of vegetation and scenery

One of the more unfamiliar short walks in George with a variety of things to see and explore. Families loved this walk during the pandemic because it offered just the right amount of exercise and scenery.

Not to be confused with the George Dam or the Garden Route Dam( the area’s main water source).

You start on the railway track next to the George Botanical Gardens and make your way up a moderate incline towards the dam. Once you reach the dam, you can skip some stones and enjoy a small picnic lunch.

Tips: The ideal walk on a cool/cloudy day. Pack a picnic and lots of water!
